Investigators say a six-year-old was on the north side of the street and attempted to cross the roadway, walking between two vehicles parked along the curb.

A woman in her 30s driving a Ford Expedition struck the child as they entered the roadway. The child sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital.

The driver was not injured, and police say speed, alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in the collision.

The Calgary Police Service’s traffic unit continues to investigate.

Police ask anybody with information on the incident to contact the non-emergency line at 403-266-1234. Tipsters can also contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
