Here are our top picks for places to stay in Byron Bay:

While there are a lot of wonderful places to choose from, I have chosen the below list of the best places to stay in Byron Bay from personal taste for their comfort, location, and unique places to stay in Byron Bay.

Byron Bay is particularly an ideal location for a family holiday.  Aside from the gorgeous beaches for swimming and surfing, there are also plenty of other activities to choose from like visiting the nearby waterfalls, shopping, seeing live music or relaxing by a pool.

Add to these the sub-tropical climate and transient lifestyle of travellers, surfers and a couple of hippies here and there makes ‘Byron’ a fun holiday location for most families.

‘Byron’ has many safe swimming beaches, including Main Beach and The Pass where families with small kids tend to gather.

The less safe beaches (Tallows Beach, Cosy Corner and Broken Head) on the south side of the lighthouse are favoured mainly by experienced surfers and swimmers, depending on the weather conditions.

Wherever you stay in Byron Bay, you will be sure to have an incredible and memorable holiday in this gorgeous part of the world, on the furthest easterly point of Australia.

Byron Bay Holiday Park is part of the Reflections Holiday Park group, who run holiday parks all over NSW.

This idyllic caravan park in Byron Bay is a short stroll from the main streets of Byron and is situated at the south end of Clarkes beach.  This campground is one of the most beautiful and convenient spots to camp in the Byron Bay area.

Waking up to a coffee on the beach or wandering up the path to the Beach Café for a delicious breakfast in the open air are some of the main draw cards of staying at Byron Bay Holiday Park.

Camping here is easy with all facilities close by while having direct beach access and views. Evening snacks on the beach during sunset right near your camp or wandering down for a morning surf without navigating parking are some of the reasons this campground is sought after in peak seasons.

The modern and luxurious standard of accommodation is above the average holiday rental and is ideal for an occasion or getaway with a touch of extravagance.  All houses are professionally cleaned, and the focus is on luxury and style in key locations.

This incredible house is a must stay if you’re after stunning views, and a relaxed yet luxurious stay.  This beach house has a modern and coastal feel and is perfectly located above the famous Pass surf break, surrounded by lush subtropical gardens.

One of the best features is the floor to ceiling glass doors and windows which soak the living room with natural sunlight. The polished floors compliment the stylish modern furnishings throughout the two story house.

This house is ideal for family holidays or a small group of friends. The central, open kitchen accompanies the lovely lounge room, the deck and the private patio.

I stayed at Wake Up Byron Bay in 2022, when attending a nearby writer’s festival.

Wake Up is situated in the quiet area of Belongil, alongside Belongil Beach which is a two minute drive north from the main town of Byron Bay.

Wake Up Byron Bay is a premium hostel with private room options for couples or shared bank rooms for group travellers.

There are many perks to saying Wake Up Byron, including free bike and surfboard hire, yoga classes, social nights, and the adjoining Tree House cafe.

Wake up Byron is definitely a cheaper option for travellers who wish to save some money while staying somewhere clean, private and relaxing.

Last Words on Places to Stay in Byron Bay

There are plenty of options for where to stay in Byron Bay, whatever your budget.

Tree-lined streets, interesting locals and plenty of delicious food and coffee shops are usually just around the corner from wherever you stay.

Wherever you decide to stay in Byron Bay it’s recommended that you research ahead of time for peak seasons and the best deals.  Ensure to take into account the weather conditions and seasons which will affect your stay close to town, for crowds and beach time.

Visiting in peak seasons, also of course costs more than travelling outside of school holidays. Something to keep in mind when booking ahead.

Byron Bay is still one of the best places to visit in Australia for beach life and culture.  The nearby hinterland and waterfalls are also well worth a trip for the lush sub tropic forests and hippy culture.
